Post-premiere pictures
June 8th, 2009
I saw the Premiere of “Nu Even Niet/Nu Even Wel” at Toverlei last Saturday. Maria Goos’ double piece is directed by Marjet Moorman, and has some of Toverlei’s finest actors and acresses. If you haven’t seen this double piece yet or if you want to see Toverlei’s realization of it, go to www.toverlei.nl to make a reservation. It’s 10 euros for a great evening out in Leiderdorp, and you won’t leave untouched.
See night-photography in the rest of this post!
I’d packed my tripod and camera so that after the show I could drive around Leiden for a bit looking for cool sites to photograph. I wanted to try a slightly different approach to exposure this time. Usually I set my camera to M and trust the light-meter to tell me how many seconds at what aperture I need for a decent pictures. Saturday I used the Aperture priority mode to determine this, and then put the values from that metering into M mode. That’s arguably the same, but for me it’s a shift in getting to know different ways of getting what I want out of my camera. I visited four or five sites and here are the best results. I did not use HDR on these images, as I have found that it doesn’t always produce good results–particularly when dealing with low-light scenery HDR can and often does introduce a lot of noise into the darker areas of the image.
