De Vlietloop

September 6th, 2009

I participated today in De Vlietloop, a 5km run in Voorschoten. I heard about it only last week and decided to join the 5km just this morning. I finished somewhere around 25 minutes (exact times aren’t published yet) which was my goal for this run. There were about 200 runners on the 5k (and slightly more on the 10k), and the atmosphere was really good. So was the weather: 16 degrees, some sun, and a weak wind. I can only hope it’s these kind of conditions next week when I’m running 10k in Rotterdam!

Yesterday I had both a birthday and a housewarming party. One in Den Haag, one in Leiderdorp. It was great seeing old friends (and their children) at Willemijn and Eric, and it was nice to see Lorien and Michael’s new home with a kitchen one can only dream of. I left their party early to get a good night’s sleep before my run today (I hadn’t yet decided on 5k or 10k), and to get one or two pictures of the edge of this urban area. Not sure if I succeeded but here’s the result, of the Rijneke Boulevard and the moon at 22:21 on a Saturday.
