City-Pier-City
March 15th, 2009
Since the end of December I’ve been training for the City-Pier-City run, and yesterday the event finally took place! A friend had arranged for us to make use of changing-rooms and showers in one of the ministries, which was a real lucky break as it was raining from time to time and we didn’t have to wait outside in the cold.
I ran the 5km in about 28 minutes. I forgot to press ‘Start’ on my stopwatch when I crossed the start and only did so some time later, so the time on my stopwatch (27:31) was not entirely accurate. But I can safely say I finished under 30 minutes and that is a good performance for me! I had some energy left when I finished, so I think I could have done the 10km—something for next year, or for the next event. My chins did not hurt (and still don’t), so my fears of having to give up running are mostly gone!
After Carlijn finished her 10km, we had a rest and then went out in Den Haag, finishing the evening in cocktail bar Blueprint, tasting a variety of cocktails and managing to flip one off the table. So instead of pain in my legs, I now have pain in my head.
My name is Marco Hokke. My blog is about the things that interest me and things I might forget if I would not blog them.
