2 years

July 28th, 2009

While I was on a holiday with Kirsten and Remco in France, visiting some of Kirsten’s friends on July 16th, it was exactly two years ago that I quit smoking.

The moment passed without much pomp and circumstance, though. Previous marks of 1 month, 2 months, 6 months and 1 year all had a triumphant quality to them. This time, however, it was little more than an inner smile of victory. The moment still held a symbolic quality, but only a minor one. It just didn’t seem that important anymore to celebrate such moments. I think it means I really quit.

Here’s to the rest of my life without cigarettes!
